19-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped From Park In Southern California, Police Say

Whittier, California – Authorities in Whittier are investigating a disturbing incident involving a reported shooting and kidnapping that unfolded shortly after midnight on August 20, 2023. The incident occurred within the parking area of Penn Park, situated at 13950 Penn Street in Whittier.

According to an adult male witness who was present at the park with an adult female friend, the incident began when an armed suspect approached their parked vehicle. The suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in their direction. In response, the male witness fled the scene. Upon his return, he discovered traces of blood near the vehicle, and his friend was nowhere to be found.

The missing woman, identified as 19-year-old Andrea Vazquez, is from Los Angeles County. She is described as a Hispanic female, standing at 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 103 pounds. She has brownish-red hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was clad in a black long-sleeve crop top, khaki pants, and black low-top Converse shoes. Notably, she has a tattoo reading “Edlyn” on the back of her neck, an Aries constellation on the top of her right hand, and a belly button piercing.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who was present at Penn Park between 11:00 PM on August 19, 2023, and 1:00 AM on August 20, 2023, to come forward with any potentially relevant information.
