CROSS COUNTY, Arkansas – A teacher from Cross County High School, identified as 26-year-old Kara Lee, has been arrested on charges of engaging in sexual intercourse with a student.
Cross County Sheriff David West revealed that the arrest of Kara Lee took place on January 4, following an investigation by the Crimes Against Children Division. The inquiry focused on incidents that transpired in November and December of 2023. Evidence uncovered during the investigation indicated that Lee had participated in “inappropriate physical touching and sexual intercourse” with a student.
As per online jail records, Kara Lee was booked into the Cross County Detention Center at 10:01 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, facing three counts of sexual assault and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Subsequently, she was released at 11:57 a.m.
The Cross County School District released this statement: “In December 2023, Cross County School Administrators received information that an employee engaged in inappropriate conduct towards a student. The District investigated and reported the allegation to the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Hotline. The employee has since resigned. The Cross County School District has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate relationships between educators and students and will continue using its best efforts to provide students with a safe and healthy educational environment.”
