A shooting erupted at a home in north Philadelphia Saturday night, suspected to be operating as an illegal speakeasy, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to four others, as per authorities’ statements over the weekend.
Captain Christopher Bradshaw said law enforcement responded to the incident just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, at a residence located in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood.
Bradshaw said a 53-year-old man, shot in the head, was declared dead at the scene. Additionally, a 42-year-old individual, sustaining gunshot wounds to the chest and thigh, succumbed to injuries at a nearby hospital. A 42-year-old man, shot in the hand, was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Further information revealed that three additional victims arrived at local hospitals in private vehicles, with injuries believed to have been sustained during the same incident. Among them were a 22-year-old woman shot in the leg, a 28-year-old man with three gunshot wounds to the leg and hip, and a 33-year-old woman shot twice in an arm. All three were reported to be in stable condition.
According to Bradshaw, the assailant or assailants fired at least 10 shots, targeting the building’s front door and a window from the street. No arrests have been reported at this time. Investigations are ongoing.
