MCKEE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police are conducting an investigation into an apparent unintended shooting in Jackson County.
Authorities were summoned to the home on Coal Road a little before 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to police, a 5-year-old child was mistakenly shot by a 7-year-old child inside the house.
Efforts were made to administer life-saving procedures on scene, but the child did not survive.
There is no suspicion of foul play, officials said. The investigation is ongoing.
