A South Carolina lawmaker is suing Instagram after his son died by suicide

After his son’s suicide in 2022, Brandon Guffey discovered the 17-year-old had been getting Instagram messages demanding money in exchange for nude images he’d sent. Now Guffey is suing Instagram’s parent company, alleging it doesn’t do enough to protect young people from online predators.
