A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested by Oklahoma City police in connection with the killing of small animals at a local Petland store.
Christopher Jameson surrendered himself to authorities on Saturday, following the issuance of an arrest warrant a day earlier.
Jameson was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on charges of cruelty to animals.
According to the police report, a parakeet and a bunny were found dead in their cages at the Petland store located near Memorial and Penn on July 13. The parakeet had suffered a broken neck, while the bunny had been strangled.
A hamster and guinea pig were also reported missing from their enclosures. The hamster was later found deceased in the parking lot, having been stomped to death. The whereabouts of the guinea pig remain unknown.
In addition to Jameson, a female companion who was seen with him during the incident is suspected of acting as a “lookout.” However, her identity is yet to be revealed by the authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
