CHICAGO – A billionaire from Chicago was killed on Sunday in a car accident at a racetrack in Colorado.
James Crown was a respected entrepreneur and socialite, belonging to the affluent Crown family of Chicago.
According to a news release from the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office, Crown suffered significant blunt force injuries when he failed to negotiate a turn and collided with an impact barrier at Aspen Motorsports Park in Woody Creek.
The exact cause of Crown’s death remains undetermined, pending an ongoing investigation conducted by the coroner’s office.
At the time of the incident, Crown was 70 years old and held ownership of the Aspen Skiing Company, among various other business ventures.
The coroner in Pitkin County has concluded that the fatal crash was accidental.
