INDIANAPOLIS – A woman intentionally crashed her car into a building in Indianapolis, believing it was a Jewish school due to her anger over the Israel-Hamas war, police said. Indianapolis police say the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Friday. The woman, Ruba Almaghtheh, 34, told police she had become distressed while watching the news and “couldn’t breathe anymore.”

Almaghtheh targeted the ‘Israelite School of Universal and Practical Knowledge,’ which she mistakenly called an “Israel school” several times and confessed to doing it “intentionally,” police said. No one in the building was injured during the incident.

However, the building Almaghtheh crashed into is not a Jewish school. According to the Anti-Defamation League, the Israelite School of Universal and Practical Knowledge is considered an extremist organization that is both anti-Israel and antisemitic.

Indianapolis police arrested Almaghtheh on charges of criminal recklessness, and they also informed the FBI.
