Iran Claims Responsibility After Massive Explosions Reported Near US Consulate in Iraq

Explosions were reported in close proximity to the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, Iraq Monday. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, asserting that they targeted and destroyed what they claimed to be the Mossad headquarters in Erbil. Mossad is Israel’s national intelligence agency.

The IRGC stated that ballistic missiles were employed in the attack. As a result of the bombing, air traffic in Erbil has come to a halt, ABC News reported.

The report said the attack targeted eight locations near the U.S. Consulate.
