LAS VEGAS (LVMPD) – On November 25, 2023, at approximately 2:55 a.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of a missing male, later identified as 51-year-old Robert Pitcher, who was possibly armed with a knife in the 3900 block of Landsdown Place.
The initial responding officer arrived in the area and was unable to locate Pitcher. The officer contacted the individual who reported Pitcher missing, and confirmed a knife was missing from residence. The officer also learned Pitcher was distressed over the loss of his son due to an overdose. As the officer exited the residence, he observed Pitcher outside in a residential area armed with the knife.
Additional officers responded to the scene to include Officers Dinh, Nuno-Reynoso, and Corso. Multiple efforts were made to de-escalate the situation with Pitcher, however, he placed the knife to his throat and refused to drop the knife.
Officers used less lethal options to include low-lethal shotguns that discharge beanbags rounds as well as their electronic control devices, but Pitcher refused to drop the knife. Pitcher then closed the distance between him and the officers causing Officers Dinh, Nuno-Reynoso, and Corso to discharge their firearms.
Pitcher fell to the ground and officers immediately began lifesaving measures. Medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Pitcher deceased.
The investigation of this incident remains ongoing.
