Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez, Robert De Niro’s Grandson, Dies At Age 19

Robert De Niro on Monday confirmed the passing of his grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez.

De Niro said in a statement, “I am deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson. We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”

The cause of death has not been disclosed. Although, investigators believe the death to be an overdose, TMZ reported.

The New York City Police Department said that De Niro-Rodriguez was discovered unconscious at 55 Wall St. in lower Manhattan shortly after 2:20 p.m. on Sunday. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The office of the chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
