Multiple People Injured After Allegiant Flight Experiences ‘Severe Turbulence’

Allegiant flight 227 from Asheville, N.C. experienced “severe” turbulence on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to at least two passengers and two flight attendants, according to airline officials in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Allegiant issued a statement confirming that the aircraft, with 179 passengers and six crew members on board, landed safely and taxied to the gate without any issues.

“Airport paramedics met the plane to assess two passengers and two flight attendants for injuries. They were transported to the hospital for further evaluation,” the airline said in a statement.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that Allegiant Air Flight 227 encountered turbulence while approaching St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport in Pinellas County, Florida, around 3:45 p.m. local time.
