Nashville Audio Specialist Identified As Man Killed While Setting Up NASCAR Street Course In Chicago

CHICAGO – A deadly incident occurred during the setup for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in Grant Park.

The worked killed has been identified as 53-year-old Duane Tabinski by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of his death was determined to be accidental electrocution, resulting from contact with electric wires.

Tabinski, from Nashville, was employed by a staging and lighting company and was situated in close proximity to the race starting line, west of Buckingham Fountain, WGN reported.

A witness told the news station that there was a sudden loss of power after the incident, followed shortly by the arrival of an ambulance to assist Tabinski.

“On Friday afternoon a contractor suffered a fatal medical emergency,” NASCAR said in a statement. “We are coordinating with local authorities on this tragic incident. We share our condolences to the family and their loved ones.”
