Nashville Woman Claims Self-Defense After Fatally Stabbing Boyfriend, Police Say

NASHVILLE (MNPD) – A self-defense claim is under investigation in relation to this Sunday’s fatal stabbing at an Athens Way apartment. Jerel Williams, 32, died of a stab wound to his chest during what his girlfriend said was an argument that turned physical inside her apartment.

Aimee Abrecht, 38, told detectives that Williams struck her in the face and strangled her. She also said he pointed a pistol at her. She telephoned 911 at 5:42 a.m. after the stabbing and was rendering aid to Williams when officers arrived. Williams died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Abrecht was interviewed in detail by Homicide Unit detectives at police headquarters and was released. Detectives will staff the completed investigation with the District Attorney’s Office.
