Shocking new details have emerged in a child neglect case out of Oklahoma where two young boys allegedly lived among large amounts of feces spread throughout their family’s apartment.

Dakota Rain Dodd, 24, and Aubrianna Jewelyn Willow Freeman, 22, each stand accused of five counts of child neglect, according to Oklahoma County Detention Center records.

The original police report provided to Law&Crime for the children’s father was significantly redacted — often entire paragraphs blacked out. But a records request recently turned up the entire, unredacted report for the mother of the boy — documenting a dizzying amount of alleged filth and squalor inside the place the children called home.

A newly-public section of the report documents the state of affairs inside the apartment on Greenvale Road in Oklahoma City:

On the stairs leading up to the second floor, there were piles of what appeared to be human feces. The smell of feces got stronger as you walked up the stairs. At the top of the stairs was a bedroom. The room had no furniture, aside from a children’s plastic slide, and a few toys. The floor was covered in multiple piles of smeared and flattened human feces. The walls were covered in [a] smeared brown substance. Based on the overwhelming smell of the bedroom, the brown substance was believed to be feces. There were numerous small handprints in the brown substance on the wall. The only window in the room was also smeared with the same brown substance. The windowsill had a thick layer of the same brown substance. Located in the closet was a twin-size bed frame. The frame was standing on it’s end and did not have a mattress. On the slats of the bed frame, the same brown substance and handprints were seen.

As Law&Crime previously reported, Oklahoma City Police officers say they responded to a call at the residence in response to a welfare check about a “naked child” on Sept. 12.

When Dodd answered the door at around 11:15 a.m. on the day in question, he appeared to have “redness and marks” on his face as if he had just been roused from sleeping, police allege.

The father of the children allegedly first said he was the only one home but, upon prompting, admitted that his two sons were upstairs, the responding officer wrote in the police report.

“Dodd again reiterated that the boys were upstairs and offered to go get them for me,” an officer wrote in the father’s police report. “I asked if I could go with him, and he said I could.”

Police say Dodd kept a hurried pace — almost like he was trying “to beat” the responding officer to the top of the stairway.

“Dodd opened the door after shaking/moving the doorknob as if it was locked,” the officer wrote in that initial report. “Once the door opened, I was struck with a smell that made my stomach turn and my eyes water. I observed two young boys who were entirely naked immediately come out of the room as if they had been standing at the door waiting or trying to get out.”

The two boys, the newly-released report says: “had feces caked into their fingernail beds, palms of their hands, feet, legs, and faces.” The report goes on to add that the “feces was dried and did not appear to be ‘fresh’.”

Again, the sad alleged state of things was described in grim detail:

The room the victims were in was covered in feces, both on the walls and carpet. Every wall in the bedroom had feces smeared all over it. The walls appeared to have been painted over once and then feces smeared over the fresh paint. The window in that bedroom is the same window the original reporting party saw the naked child standing. That window was approximately 3.5-4 feet off the floor. The glass on this window was also covered in brown stains similar to those on the walls. The brown smear marks on this window are also visible from the parking lot. There was no other furniture in the bedroom. The floor was carpeted and had also had feces on it. The officers reported the feces appeared to be human feces. This bedroom also had a camera mounted on the wall near the ceiling on the [northeast] corner of the bedroom. A bed frame was observed in the closet of this bedroom and was leaned against the wall with no mattress.

Police say an 11-month-old baby girl also lived in the residence — but was kept apart from the two feces-covered boys.

The new report also says Dodd admittedly kept the boys locked up for at least 12 hours per day so that Freeman could sleep and because of “the neighborhood.” Freeman allegedly told police the boys were locked up for a maximum of two hours per day.

One of the family’s neighbors recently spoke with Oklahoma City-based CBS affiliate KWTV to describe her efforts to get some help for the Dodd-Freeman children.

“I’d go by that window and see them little boys naked in it, they looked at me as if to say help me,” the neighbor said. “They would have dookie all over their face, hands, mouth.”

Both Dodd and Freeman were arrested on Sept. 12, jail records show. Neither defendant currently has an attorney of record, according to Oklahoma County court records. Notably, in the formal case filed against Freeman, prosecutors rendered her middle name as “Marie.”

The cases against the two defendants have yet to be presented to prosecutors for formal charges, a spokesperson for the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office previously told Law&Crime.

Both of their bonds are currently set at $250,000.
