Groveland, MASS. – An 83-year-old man accidentally drove his SUV into a Massachusetts assisted living facility on Monday morning, resulting in injuries to two residents, officials said. The incident occurred at the Nichols Village retirement community.

Both the driver and an 84-year-old woman, who was a resident of the retirement community, were taken to the hospital for treatment after the crash, said Groveland Fire Chief Robert Valentine.

Another resident from the affected unit received on-site medical attention but did not require hospitalization, according to Valentine.

Photos from the scene depicted the front of the SUV partially inside the living unit. The town’s building inspector responded to the scene.

Following the accident, an architectural engineer assessed the building’s stability and confirmed that it was sufficient to facilitate the safe removal of the vehicle. Subsequently, the SUV was towed away at approximately 1:20 p.m.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
