An explosion on Saturday resulted in the loss of four lives and injuries to two individuals as a home in Northfield Township, Michigan, was reduced to rubble, according to local law enforcement.

Lt. David Powell, spokesperson for the Northfield Township police, revealed that three individuals were pronounced dead at the incident site, while three survivors were swiftly transported to medical facilities on Saturday afternoon. One of the survivors succumbed to their injuries later, police said.

Details about the victims, such as their ages and relationships, are still under investigation, Powell said during an evening press briefing.

The home, situated on a dead-end road and fairly secluded, suffered extensive damage, leaving only its basement intact. When questioned about the cause, Powell stated, “We don’t know, maybe some type of gas explosion.” He indicated that the homes in the vicinity may not be connected to utility gas lines and instead rely on propane tanks for fuel.

As a precautionary measure, electricity in the area was disconnected. The investigation continues.
