House Speaker Mike Johnson asserted on Sunday that federal employees who engage in a planned walkout to protest President Biden‘s handling of Israel’s conflict with Hamas should face termination. The Republican from Louisiana made these remarks in response to an AL-Monitor news article reporting that workers in at least 22 agencies intend to protest Biden’s Gaza policy by participating in a walkout on Tuesday.

In a statement on X, Johnson expressed his viewpoint, stating, “Any government worker who walks off the job to protest U.S. support for our ally Israel is ignoring their responsibility and abusing the trust of taxpayers. They deserve to be fired.”

Johnson further pledged to collaborate with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a fellow Republican, to ensure that disciplinary actions are taken by federal agencies against those who walk out on their job.

According to AL-Monitor, a group identified as Feds United for Peace, consisting of dozens of federal workers, is planning a “Day of Mourning” to coincide with the 100th day of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
