Target is initiating a recall of approximately 2.2 million candles due to multiple incidents where the jars shattered while in use, resulting in injuries to at least one individual.

The affected products, known as Threshold glass candles, were distributed through Target stores and the Target.com platform from February 2020 to July 2023. These candles were priced between $3 and $12, as reported by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.

As per the commission’s report, Target has been informed of 19 instances in which the glass jars broke, leading to one individual sustaining injuries. In response, Target is conducting a recall of Threshold glass jar candles in two sizes: the 5.5-ounce single-wick jars and the 20-ounce three-wick jars. These candles were available in various scents, as noted by the safety commission.

This recall comes on the heels of a previous recall in May, during which Target recalled close to 5 million candles after six individuals reported injuries caused by the same issue, according to the safety commission’s statement.
