10 months ago 186

On Christmas Day, special counsel Jack Smith, overseeing the prosecution of former President Donald Trump in two federal cases, became the target of an attempted swatting incident at his Maryland home.

According to NBC News, an anonymous caller dialed 911, falsely reporting that Smith had shot his wife at the address. In response, Montgomery County Police swiftly dispatched units to the location. However, Deputy U.S. Marshals, responsible for safeguarding Smith and his family, informed the police that the call was a hoax, and everyone inside the residence was safe.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Both the Special Counsel’s Office spokesperson and authorities from the police and U.S. Marshals Service have refrained from providing comments on the matter.

In recent months, Smith has encountered a series of threats since initiating legal action against Trump, involving an indictment related to the former president’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
