Two men are in custody after one is accused of ambushing and killing a deputy following the pistol-whipping of a Little Caesars employee over an incorrect order

Ronald Ronnie Palmer Jr., 44, is charged with capital murder for the death of Deputy Fernando Esqueda,28, and two counts of aggravated assault

Dremone Francis, 26, was also arrested and charged with capital murder and tampering with evidence

Deputies were searching for Palmer after he reportedly pistol-whipped a Little Caesars employee over an incorrect order

Deputy Esqueda, a five-year veteran, was ambushed after spotting the suspect’s vehicle

His undercover vehicle was found riddled with bullet holes. He was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead
